1775: Rebellion Is Set for Release Tonight from HexWar

I have, in the past, stated my love of Academy Games‘ fantastic team based war game, 1775: Rebellion, which made me think I wouldn’t need to do it again on the eve of it’s mobile release. Then I remembered that I hadn’t stated that love at our new digs, so here goes.

I love this game.

Sorry to get all mushy on you. Seriously, though, 1775: Rebellion is an absolutely fantastic board game that does something that very few board games do: allows you to play in teams. Two players play the British team, the British Regulars and Loyalists, and two play the Americans, the Continental Army and Patriot militia. Together you share strategies and talk about your hands of card while maneuvering each other’s troops. It’s a hoot, with lots of dice rolling, back and forth, and a random turn order mechanism that can throw all your well laid plans out the window.

HexWar has had a digital version available for a while now on Steam for PC/Mac, but tonight the iPad and Android tablet version will go live at midnight GMT. We don’t have a price on the tablet version, but we do know that it will offer both AI opponents and cross-platform online multiplayer for up to 4 players.

Watch for it tonight, and we should have a review up in the next week or so.

  1. It’s been out for a few hours on iOS, for those not into staying up until midnight.
