Everyone’s favorite monster brawler, Titan HD, gets update

May 30, 2017 David Neumann 2

iPad, Android Tablet • A long time ago at a mobile gaming website far, far away, Kelsey told me that he’d teach me Titan some day. Much like his insistence that he’ll someday empty the Stately Manor dishwasher, I’m guessing this was a lie. It’s okay. He’s busy trying to stay sane and/or within our dimension, and I’d rather read those exploits than have clean dishes, anyway. Still Titan remains a favorite of many of you, so I will have to sit and learn it (by myself, apparently) at some point. Lucky for me, the developer is still behind this gem 100% and today released another major update.

Pathfinder Adventures finally getting new content, just not THAT new content

May 30, 2017 David Neumann 5

iOS Universal, Android, PC/Mac (coming soon) • Back in December, Obsidian capped off the first Adventure Path for their bug-laden-yet-nearly-perfect card game, Pathfinder Adventures. Even before the final chapter was released, there were questions about the future of Pathfinder Adventures. Would it begin a new Adventure Path? Would there be new characters? Would the bugs ever get fully squashed? It’s nearly six months later and we’ve not heard an answer to any of those questions…wait for it…until this weekend. BOOM!

Do we want Missile Cards on our iOS devices? Yes! You can help make it shiny.

May 25, 2017 David Neumann 4

iOS • There have been plenty of great card game releases thus far in 2017, but one that wasn’t on my radar until a few weeks ago was Missile Cards from Nathan Meunier. A turn-based mashup of 1980’s Missile Command and 2015’s Card Crawl, Missile Cards has everything it takes to be a fantastic mobile title. Unfortunately, it’s only for PC right now, but that’s changing. In fact, it’s coming to iOS very, very soon.

The Little Game That Could, Onirim, gets bigger

May 25, 2017 David Neumann 6

iOS Universal, Android • Onirim is a truly fantastic port of a physical card game but, let’s admit, it has some hills to climb. One is that it’s solitaire only, which immediately makes it feel like more of a time waster than a serious strategic affair. Next, it has to compete with the likes of Race for the Galaxy which just happened to release around the same time and might be the greatest card game you can play on mobile right now. Lastly, Asmodee only released the Onirim base game with no expansions which, I’ve heard, really make the game shine. Two of those aren’t Onirim’s fault, but that last one is. Luckily, Asmodee is listening and the first expansion for Onirim arrived today. Better yet, it’s free.

Play out all your Shawshank fantasies right now with Prison Architect: Mobile

May 25, 2017 David Neumann 0

iPad, Android Tablets, PC, Mac, Linux • I’ll admit that when I first heard praise being heaped upon a PC title called Prison Architect, I was a bit suspect. I love builders and simulation games more than I love my second and third children (my eldest is okay, I guess), but the theme turned me off and I didn’t give it another look until well after it had been released. As it turns out, the only thing waiting did was keep me from playing a fantastic builder. This morning, Paradox released the mobile version of Introversion‘s Prison Architect for iPad and Android tablets and it sure is nice to test my electric chair while sitting on the couch.

Pixel Tactics Online is basically Pixel Tactics, but online

May 22, 2017 David Neumann 5

PC, Mac, iOS, Android • I’ve never played Pixel Tactics from Level 99 Games due to the fact that the tabletop card-battler is two-player only. Two player games became an endangered species at my house the minute we decided to have more than one kid. Lucky for me, Level 99 is bringing the game to both laptops and mobile later this year, so I’ll be able to finally give it a go without ignoring one of my kids. Instead, I can now ignore them all.

Games Workshop bringing Mordheim to mobile

May 22, 2017 David Neumann 0

iOS, Android • When I first saw the news about Mordheim: Warband Skirmish this morning over at Pocket Gamer, I was excited. Other than Talisman, has Games Workshop done a mobile title not set in the Warhammer universe? Then I read the article and saw words like Skaven and realized my Warhammer ignorance was showing. Mordheim is set firmly within the Warhammer universe, just not the 40K one.

Nomad expanding Horus Heresy universe with 2 new warlords

May 19, 2017 David Neumann 0

iOS, Android, PC, Mac • While I don’t consider myself a huge Warhammer 40K fan (I like the ambience, but have no idea what the hell is going on), I do, much to everyone’s chagrin, enjoy Talisman. Thus, Talisman: Horus Heresy has a spot on my iPad and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Much like it’s fantasy-themed predecessor, Nomad Games is making sure T:HH stays fresh by routinely adding more content. Today we get two new warlords to add to your stable of armor clad goons.

GRIDD Gud – GRIDD: Retroenhanced Shmup Hits Steam

May 17, 2017 Alex Connolly 0

PC, Mac, Linux • World-class style isn’t just reserved for the catwalk in Milan. Going by the likes of Mixed Bag, Santa Ragione and now Antab Studios, Milanese game development is about matching substance with impeccable visual kung fu. Having had my senses tickled by the likes of forma.8 (currently on sale, you know what to do), Futuridium (first-person or bust) and FOTONICA (PC or iOS; a personal pick for endless runner), it’s time to stir a little Last Starfighter into Lawrence Angelo’s coffee. Behold, the freshly-released GRIDD: Retroenhanced.
