Righteous Hammer announces new title, ZOR: Pilgrimage of the Slorfs

Back in the summer of 2016 the folks at Righteous Hammer made their impression on the App Store landscape with a solitaire card game roguelike, Solitairica. Impossible to spell title aside, it was an incredible time waster and a perfect example of what a phone game should be. Three years later and the studio has been fairly silent. That changed this morning with the announcement of their next title, Zor: Pilgrimage of the Slorfs.

News cornucopia, aka all the crap we missed last week because we’re lazy bastards

iOS, Android, PC/Mac • Summer is a huge pain in the ass. Instead of talking to developers and actually playing games, I’m spending my days going to amusement parks and museums “building memories” with my kids. Gross, right? The worst part is that a small part of me is actually kind of enjoying it. Fear not, it’s only a matter of time before they ask me for money and the warm fuzzies quickly dissipate. The worst part of all this involves Stately Play getting the short end of the stick. A bunch of stuff happened last week that I didn’t get a chance to talk about simply due to time constraints. Considering that this week is probably going to be worse–tomorrow is a holiday here in the US, and I won’t be around to post–I figured a quick news dump was in order. Let’s start with our old friend, Solitairica.

Roguelike card game, Solitairica, getting more content in major update

iOS, Android, PC/Mac • While we love heavy, complex board and card games, sometimes it’s nice to just relax and play something a little simpler. Something that doesn’t tax your brain too much, but can still be considered a true game with your actions and choices making a difference. The king in this category is probably Card Crawl, but there are others out there that fit the bill rather nicely as well. One of those is last year’s Solitairica from Righteous Hammer. A fun, fast roguelike that kept you coming back for more because of all the new content you could unlock. For those of us who, long ago, unlocked everything Solitairica had to offer, listen up! More content is on the way via an expansion: Primal Champions.

New mini-boss incoming to Solitairica, bigger plans down the road

One of 2016’s better mobile titles was a little card battler from Righteous Hammer called Solitairica. Following in Card Crawl’s footsteps, it was a quick-playing, fast solitaire card game whose true genius was less in the game’s mechanisms and more in all the extra doodads you can unlock the better you play. Solitairica sported several different classes and special powers to unlock so, even if you failed to make it all the way to Castle Stuck, there were rewards right around the corner. The problem is, eventually, you ended up with all the doodads in your pocket with nothing left to quest for. Lucky for us, it looks like Righteous Hammer has big plans for 2017 and making Solitairica something to come back to.
