iOS Universal, PC/Mac •
With two stories in one day, it’s beginning to feel like Tin Man Games day around here. That’s okay, as they make some great interactive fiction ranging all the way from Shakespeare to the 41st millennium. Earlier today, they were busy conquering 1920’s Melbourne, but later this month they’ll tackle Firetop Mountain. That’s right, the long awaited dungeon crawl, Warlock of Firetop Mountain, is due to release for iOS later this month.
Warlock of Firetop Mountain has been around on PC/Mac for quite a while now, and fans of interactive fiction and tactical combat haven’t been disappointed. We’ve been expecting it on our iDevices and today we finally learned that it will launch on February 22.
Warlock of Firetop Mountain is far more than a digital version of the classic gamebook. Instead, the book has been reimagined as a three-dimensional dungeon that looks incredible. Combat has improved, too, and the app features turn-based combat on a square grid. Both combat and exploration are performed via beautifully crafted miniatures, of which there are over 100 to find and unlock with many of them offering new stories and reasons to travel through the Warlock’s dungeon.
- A tabletop adventure come to life with figurines and an environment that assembles itself
