I’m sure a lot of you think I’m making it up, or at least exaggerating, when I talk about how terrible I am at games. Here’s another example. I’m currently winless in the Through the Ages beta and TtA is a game that I’ve played more than any other. Hundreds of games. I was the jamoke who created the official TtA Vassal module back before anyone had conceived of an online version. Just playtesting that involved playing, literally, hundreds of games. You’d think I’d have this game down to a science; a civilization building savant. Instead, I can’t stop tripping over my own feet.
Oh, and James Cook is still a butthead.
Don’t worry Dave, I am suck at Terra Mystica and badly. The easy AI leave me ruined ALL the time
Can’t wait to lose at TtA nonethless!
Possible article topic: “Games you just never win.”
You could ask everyone to contribute, with anecdotes of frustration being a mandatory inclusion.
Not sure I could pick just one game…
I have a particularly horrible win percentage across all my games, for some reason. At the risk of sounding immodest, I’m quite intelligent, but when it comes to games, I just can’t translate whatever intelligence I have into gaming IQ.
I suck at most of the games I play.
I’ve long ago come to terms with it.
My brother-in-law is a PE teacher who married into a family of attorneys. He wins about 90% of our games. I’m really fascinated with the mental qualities that make one good at gaming, because I need a scientific reason for my suckery.
