North Star’s Evolution is…evolving?

iOS, Android, PC/Mac •

Before we begin, I need to tell you that, yes, I’m ashamed of that title but low-hanging fruit and all that. Ok, now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about Evolution and how you can sign up for the alpha.

Evolution has seemingly been in development since the late Pleistocene, but it’s only really been about 2-3 years. That said, each time we talk with North Star Games, the game looks finished, so we’re used to thinking that release is just around the corner. Turns out it’s not quite there, yet. In fact, we just learned that Evolution is currently headed for alpha and they’re looking for testers to help the process along.

The alpha will be starting this Spring with new testers being added in waves throughout the summer. Testing is for the PC/Mac version, with tablet testing coming down the road. If you’re interested in getting a pre-release version of the game and helping to polish it up for release, you can sign up here. Just be sure to do it before April 22, when signups will close.

Can we keep him? Please?

If you have no idea what the hell we’re talking about, here’s the skinny. Evolution is a card game in which you create new species of animals, and then add up to three cards to each one, mixing and matching up new critters. Much like my real life goal, the goal of Evolution is to eat the most food. This is done by adding cards that help your ability to eat such as having a long neck or becoming a carnivore. You can also add traits to help prevent your species from becoming a meal for one of your opponent’s carnivores. There are a ton of different traits on the cards, so there are always new critter combos popping up as you play.

Sound fun? It is! So let’s help North Star along and get that alpha cracking, shall we?

  1. The goal here is not to end up as the next Galactic Keep.

Years of waiting … hype based on screenshots … then a game that is all flash and no substance.
