Returner 77 lands on the App Store

iOS Universal • Need to kill about 12 hours while you wait for a certain something to arrive on the App Store? I feel ya. You could fill a bit of that time with Underhand, but if you’re in more of a puzzle mood, how’s about giving Returner 77 a go?

How many decks in a dungeon? One. One deck. [UPDATE]

It’s been a busy few weeks for the folks at Handelabra. First, their baseball dice-roller, Bottom of the 9th, heads to Steam and then they celebrated the third anniversary of Sentinels of the Multiverse‘s release with a massive sale. Little did we know that the biggest news from Handelabra was yet to come. They’ve teamed up with Asmadi Games and are bringing card game One Deck Dungeon to our laptops (and, hopefully, touchscreens).

Dungeons 3 available now for PC/Mac/Linux

October 16, 2017 David Neumann 0

PC/Mac/Linux • Over the weekend our intrepid reporter, Zac, mentioned a title he’d been playing called Dungeons 3. Having never heard of either Dungeons or Dungeons 2, I assumed that this was the first game in a series but Realmforge added a “3” to the title to make it seem more seasoned. My assumption turned out to be incorrect, however, and there is a Dungeons and Dungeons 2, further confirming that I’m an utter dunce. Jumping into Dungeons 3 this weekend made me a little upset that I only discovered the series now. I’ve wanted a new Dungeon Keeper for ages, and it’s been there, under my nose, all along.

D&D board game, Tomb of Annihilation, appears on Steam

October 13, 2017 David Neumann 13

PC/Mac • While I try to stay on top of all the digital board game happenings out there, I do tend to miss some. Okay, more than some. This one’s not my fault, though. Having never heard of developer BKOM Studios before today, I had no idea they were in the digital board game biz. Thankfully, a reader over at BGG tipped me off that not only are they making board games, but they’ve translated one of the most anticipated dungeon crawlers out there: Tomb of Annihilation.

Through the Ages updates to version 1.24

October 12, 2017 David Neumann 2

iOS Universal, Android • Have you heard of Through the Ages? It’s a little card game from Czech Games Edition that we kind of like. Oh, who am I kidding? It’s nearly perfect and I’m still playing (and losing) about 5 concurrent games at all times. Notice I said “nearly” perfect. CGE is aware that the game has a few issues and today released an update to help fix a few of them.

Handelabra celebrates Sentinels birthday by going insane

October 12, 2017 David Neumann 0

iOS, Android, PC/Mac/Linux • As I mentioned yesterday, Handelabra has left their flagship title, Sentinels of the Multiverse, in the rear view mirror and is now focusing solely on…JUST KIDDING! Sentinels is still alive and well, and one of the best card game ports you’ll find on the App Store. It’s also celebrating its third birthday today, so Handelabra is having a sale. A crazy, ridiculous sale, so if you’re one of the few who hasn’t gotten on the Sentinels train yet–or just want to pick up more expansion content–now’s the time.

WHQ2 has some competition: Halcyon 6 coming Oct 19

October 12, 2017 David Neumann 10

iOS Universal, PC/Mac/Linux • We’ve cleared the Stately calendar next week so we can focus on the release of Perchang‘s Warhammer Quest 2. It looks like our focus has been a little too focused, however, as WHQ2 isn’t the only interesting release coming next week. Thanks to our friendly neighborhood journalists (not to mention Touch Arcade), we now need to divide our focus between WHQ2 and something from Massive Damage called Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander which is also releasing on October 19. Oh, woe is us.

Launch Steam and start shaking your Brass

October 11, 2017 David Neumann 2

iOS, Android, PC/Mac/Linux • If you told me Bottom of the 9th was the only board game making its way to Steam today, I’d laugh in your face, call you names, and generally just be a huge ass. Why? Because it’s Wednesday. Also, I know that Cublo Games‘ take on Martin Wallace’s classic, Brass, is making its debut on Valve’s moneymaker today as well. See how cool that makes me? That I know that thing? Yeah, I’m pretty cool, aren’t I?

Bottom of the 9th gets a call-up to the big leagues

October 11, 2017 David Neumann 0

iOS, Android, PC/Mac/Linux • It was three years ago that Handelabra came out of nowhere and blew us away with the digital take on Sentinels of the Multiverse, a card game so fiddly that it was begging for a digital version. Since then, they’ve managed to incorporate just about every promo card and expansion available in the real world meaning news on the Sentinels front has been somewhat quiet lately (unless you’re a variant hunter, that is). Instead, Handelabra has focused on their new port, a digital retelling of Greater Than Games‘ one inning baseball duel, Bottom of the 9th. It’s been on iOS and Android since August, but today it made the jump to the big leagues: Steam.
