iOS Universal, PC/Mac/Linux • With everyone already hip-deep into Warhammer Quest 2, I’d like to remind you there is life outside of the dungeon. For example, I dropped the kids off at school this morning and then went home and fell asleep on the couch. Can’t do that in WHQ2! While meeting my wife for lunch, I ran over a couple traffic cones in a construction area and dragged them under my minivan for about 2.5 miles. Not only did it make my minivan-driving self look cool, but you can’t do that in WHQ2! I also downloaded a new game from the App Store, Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander. That’s something we can all do, but you can’t do it in WHQ2!

iOS Universal • Since the release of Card Crawl a few years back, the Solitaire Card Game With A Cool Theme That Makes It Cooler Than Your Standard Card GameTM genre has really taken off. Tinytouchtales by themselves have released both Card Thief and Miracle Merchant, but there have been others as well, such as Guild of Dungeoneering and others that I can’t remember, not to mention that this opener is already getting a bit long in the tooth. Underhand is the latest game to arrive in the genre but, unfortunately, feels less like Card Crawl and more like the unholy love child of Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books and Groundhog Day.

Through the Ages updates to version 1.24

iOS Universal, Android • Have you heard of Through the Ages? It’s a little card game from Czech Games Edition that we kind of like. Oh, who am I kidding? It’s nearly perfect and I’m still playing (and losing) about 5 concurrent games at all times. Notice I said “nearly” perfect. CGE is aware that the game has a few issues and today released an update to help fix a few of them.

Handelabra celebrates Sentinels birthday by going insane

iOS, Android, PC/Mac/Linux • As I mentioned yesterday, Handelabra has left their flagship title, Sentinels of the Multiverse, in the rear view mirror and is now focusing solely on…JUST KIDDING! Sentinels is still alive and well, and one of the best card game ports you’ll find on the App Store. It’s also celebrating its third birthday today, so Handelabra is having a sale. A crazy, ridiculous sale, so if you’re one of the few who hasn’t gotten on the Sentinels train yet–or just want to pick up more expansion content–now’s the time.

iOS Universal, PC/Mac/Linux • We’ve cleared the Stately calendar next week so we can focus on the release of Perchang‘s Warhammer Quest 2. It looks like our focus has been a little too focused, however, as WHQ2 isn’t the only interesting release coming next week. Thanks to our friendly neighborhood journalists (not to mention Touch Arcade), we now need to divide our focus between WHQ2 and something from Massive Damage called Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander which is also releasing on October 19. Oh, woe is us.

Launch Steam and start shaking your Brass

iOS, Android, PC/Mac/Linux • If you told me Bottom of the 9th was the only board game making its way to Steam today, I’d laugh in your face, call you names, and generally just be a huge ass. Why? Because it’s Wednesday. Also, I know that Cublo Games‘ take on Martin Wallace’s classic, Brass, is making its debut on Valve’s moneymaker today as well. See how cool that makes me? That I know that thing? Yeah, I’m pretty cool, aren’t I?

Bottom of the 9th gets a call-up to the big leagues

iOS, Android, PC/Mac/Linux • It was three years ago that Handelabra came out of nowhere and blew us away with the digital take on Sentinels of the Multiverse, a card game so fiddly that it was begging for a digital version. Since then, they’ve managed to incorporate just about every promo card and expansion available in the real world meaning news on the Sentinels front has been somewhat quiet lately (unless you’re a variant hunter, that is). Instead, Handelabra has focused on their new port, a digital retelling of Greater Than Games‘ one inning baseball duel, Bottom of the 9th. It’s been on iOS and Android since August, but today it made the jump to the big leagues: Steam.

iOS, Android, PC/Mac • Although I’ve been diagnosed with chronic depression since I was eight years-old, it still sneaks up on me sometimes. Yesterday was just such a day. It started like any other, but quickly turned into a muddy mess which ended up with me laying in bed and staring at the ceiling instead of plucking away at my keyboard. Sorry about that, everyone. I’ve been working to ensure it doesn’t happen very often (or, hopefully, ever) but things change and I’m not quite there yet. That said, it will not be a regular occurrence. Of course, big news always seems to pop up when I’m not around. For example, yesterday’s posts should have been announcing two big stories, both of which you’ve, by now, probably heard. If you haven’t, however, tomorrow is going to be a big day for board game ports as both Smash Up and Cottage Garden are set to arrive on the App Store.

Age of Rivals set to expand

iOS, Android, PC/Mac • Oh, Age of Rivals. You were our Through the Ages before we had digital Through the Ages. You were our 7 Wonders before…well, you’re still our 7 Wonders and will likely always be. You were the surprise card game of our summer, only falling behind other releases because we learned everything you had to share. That is, we ran out of new cards to unlock. Roboto Games is set to reignite our addiction, however, with the Conflict of Fate update which should be landing on the App Store very soon.
